The System of Indicators to Monitor Regional Integration in Africa aims to assess the progress and impacts of regional integration in Africa. The project uses a result-based approach to identify indicators (existing and potential) that best reflect progress made and overall impacts of regional integration in Africa. The System’s architecture is composed of 6 key dimensions, 14 sub-dimensions, and more than 80 core indicators.
From a policy perspective, the system of indicators will allow policy makers (in RMCs and RECs) and development partners, including the AfDB, to identify areas that require further policy interventions. From an academic perspective, the system will help develop a better understanding of the speed and depth of Africa’s regional integration initiatives and will help highlight the relative importance of regional integration as opposed to globalization.
